Pantone’s 2022 Colour of the Year, Very Peri

Very Peri = very pleased. Well done, Pantone, on your choice for colour of the year. Not only for creating a beautiful, brand-new colour, but also for choosing one that’s spot on.
Last year’s combo choice of Ultimate Gray and Illuminating was accurate, but in hindsight, too optimistic. Very Peri has a careful hopefulness. Calming, with a bit of tiredness, yet mixed with a budding energy that you can see and feel. It’s the mixture of the warm and cool tones – “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
I see that courageous creativity and imaginative expression channeled into an overlay for black and white photos, splashed as solid backgrounds and funky design elements or giving life to a pattern. I see it in a colour palette that would work for many brands.
