Thoughts from a Designer: Pantone Colour Report

Guest Post by Julie Brown-Hallman

I love creating colour palettes for our clients – sorting through bolds, neutrals, basics and compiling a unique set just for them. Twice a year my love for colour gets amped up when the Pantone Colour Institute releases their colour report. One for spring/summer and one for autumn/winter.

This upcoming season’s batch of colours are beautiful and bold. I was struck by the vividness and the number of oranges and browns – Rocky Road, Peach Pink, Orange Tiger and my personal favourite, Dark Cheddar. Which makes sense for autumn, of course, but it doesn’t include as many blues and greys as I thought it would. This palette is far more unique than the general expectation one would have of fall colours. Dark colours that are very deep and extra rich (Eden green, Evening Blue and Biking Red) and neutrals so beautiful with, literally, that extra bit of cream (Vanilla Custard, Crème de Pêche and Paloma).

Check out this unique palette and see which one is your favourite. It’s all that and a bag of chips, especially when Guacamole is included.
