Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority

Communications Audit and Strategy

In late 2018, we completed an in-depth review and analysis of Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority’s communications, strategies and engagement efforts. Beyond “materials”, this also included an audit of the current website, a high-level review of all social media channels, media analysis, and interviews with staff and neighbouring Authorities. We also led a public survey as well as a focus group with community leaders to lend their insights on niche audiences, communication channels and messaging nuances.

In 2021 we were invited back to deliver a communications strategy that addressed the fulsome set of recommendations delivered in 2018. Part of the strategy’s extensive, four-month development included a close review and update of the 2018 audit findings:

  • to incorporate internal and external communication developments over the two-year period of time; and
  • address the realities of COVID-era restrictions and the challenges/opportunities these presented

It’s not often that our team gets opportunity to revisit and refine past strategies; we were able to see which recommendations were successful in delivering as anticipated and which required further refinement and polishing to meet the unique needs of the Authority’s catchment area.

Testimonial:

“The previous draft was already good, but this one was even better! You have put such detailed, hard work into this document, and we really appreciate your efforts.”
